- SCA’s Completes Purchase of G-P Tissue Operations
July 19, 2012 — SCA’s purchase of Georgia-Pacific's European tissue operations officially has been completed.
The closing follows a ruling by the European Union regulatory commission requiring SCA to divest some business properties in Great Britain, Ireland, Sweden, and The Netherlands in order to prevent hurting its competition. SCA announced the US$1.65 billion purchase last November.
SCA Tissue is one of the three largest producers of away-from-home tissue products in North America, annually turning more than 750,000 tons of recycled paper into 100 percent recycled tissues, towels and napkins under the global Tork® brand of SCA. It is a division of SCA, a global consumer goods and paper company headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. In the United States, SCA Americas has more than 2,000 employees at eight manufacturing facilities, located in New York, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Alabama. For more information, visit www.SCA.com.
