May 9, 2012 — Winners of the prestigious Amsterdam Innovation Award were recognized during the opening session of the ISSA/INTERCLEAN® Amsterdam 2012 trade show, which kicked off today and runs through Friday.
The winners and their categories were Alfred Karcher GmbH & Co. KG (Machines, Accessories, and Components) for its B 80W auto-scrubber; Alpheios International (Management, Planning, Research, and Consulting) for its Infection Prevention Monitor, which also won the new Visitor’s Choice Award; and Vermop Salmon GmbH (Equipment/Tools—Cleaning, Care & Safety) for its Mag microfiber mopping system.
The top honor was earned by Vermop.
Sustainability a Key Consideration
“From all the 71 entries we saw this year it was clear manufacturers are really thinking more carefully about the solutions they develop in terms of how they fulfill their customers’ needs—with more ability to tailor solutions for example," says Amsterdam Innovation Award Jury Chair Michelle Marshall. “It’s encouraging to note the increasing use of Web-based solutions, which until now the cleaning sector has been largely slow to adopt. Sustainability has been a key consideration for almost all of the new product entries we have seen in this year’s Amsterdam Innovation Award. This reflects how deeply these values have become embedded in the industry as a whole.”

The Amsterdam Innovation Award Supports African Water Project
The Amsterdam Innovation Award supports the African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) Flying Doctors. All of the registration fees received from exhibitors—a grand total of €10,650—will be donated to the AMREF project in Kajiado, Kenya, which aims to provide accessible water and sanitary facilities for the local community.
